Heart Palipitations

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced heart palpitations during pregnancy. I am 14 weeks along and recently starting experiencing heart palpitations quite frequently over the past few days. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what this could be?? I am going to dr. this week for sure, but just wondering if anyone had any experience with this. Thanks.

  • I had some "speeding" up of my heart a few times, but I did some deep breathing and it got better.

It happened from 13-16 weeks probably. I think it was from the blood volume increasing so much.

  • I would check into your potassium levels.  My co-worker had a similar problem, and it was related to lack of potassium.
  • Thanks everyone so far. I aslo was told a few years ago I have a slight heart murmur, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
  • i did.  mentioned it to my OB, but she didn't seemed concerned (and evidently, there wasn't any need to be).  i would still bring it up at your next appt just so it's out there.  also, are you stressed or overwhelmed about something?  i find my palps occur when i have lots on my mind.
  • I've had them since the beginning of my pregnancy. In most cases, it's nothing to be concerned with. They can be caused with the increased blood volume and hormones one has during pregnancy. They're usually innocent, but mention them at your next dr's appointment.

  • Mine ended up being a low iron level. Talk to your OB and have them check that because that's not something you want to go unchecked.
  • I have had it happen when I am over heated or really tired, like from walking up too many stairs.
  • i get them as well...I did get them before i was pregnant, but they seem to be more intense now that I am pregnant...the doctor told me to just take it easy and try not to lay down so much...also lay on your left side and that really seems to help me!  Good luck!  I would still bring it up at your appointment!
