I was set to be induced on Tuesday, August 18. DH and I headed to the hospital and got settled. Doc broke my water at 845 am, and OMG I had a ridiculiously amount of fluid! It was pooling for over 2 hours! We actually watched my HUGE belly deflate! haha. At 9 am I was placed on pitocin and monitors, for what I thought would be a "typical" induction. ha ha ha. I was only 2 cm, so I knew I had a long way to go.
DH and I played cards and beared through the contractions. I was checked again at 1245 and I was 4 cms.
Around 430, after 8 hours of pitocin contrax, I got an epi. The epi didnt hurt, but the novicane did
As soon as they pushed meds, my BP went to hell, 50/30. They put me quickly on oxygen and had to push ephedrine to get my heart and BP up again.
After about 1/2 I felt fine, but DH and my Mom looked panicked. I guess I was out for a bit and my room was filled with docs.
At 6 pm I was catherized and at 930 pm I was still only 7 cms.
At 11 pm I was 8.5 cms so we were hoping our LO would arrive soon! Little did we know.
At 2 am they had to put in an internal monitorso they could keep track of LO heart rate, as it was fluctuating. I was 9 cm, almost there ...
At 515 am (now Wednesday and in the hospital for 22 hours) I was checked again, 9.5 but LO was still at station -1. He didnt want to come out!
Because I was getting near to the 24 hour window, doc decided it was C section time for me ...
At 545 I was given the c section medicine in my epi, and from what Im told all went to hell again. All I remember saying was "I dont fell good". I guess I passed out, my by went to 40/20 (pretty much non existant) and 15 med types came running into my room to whisk me away to surgery. DH said he was panicked, as he thought they were going to lose me.
Next thing I remember was DH sitting next to me in the OR holding my hand. I was still out of it, but they told me that pushed more heart meds and were monitoring me very closely and that LO would be out very soon.
Then I heard it .. they most AMAZING sound ever. Doc saying, you have a boy, then hearing him cry.
There isnt a thing like it in the world.
Jackson Douglas B. was borned at 6:14 am on August 19, 2009. He weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and is 21 inches long. He has beautiful blond hair and most likely blue eyes.
They took us off to recovery at 7 am, and after the "shakes" I feed my little boy for the 1st time, and he latched right on.
I stayed in recovery til 830 am, then moved to my home away from home til Saturday. I had a very bad 1st day, was constant vomiting, but after that I was ok.
Did it go as I planned, no.
Does it really matter now that I have him, not one bit.
He's 6 days old today and I cant imagine what my life was like without him.
And DH was the best through the entire thing. He didnt leave the hospital til I checked out, slept there every night.
And we have had the best 3 days at home with our perfect little boy.
