DS NEVER, EVER has slept longer than 3.5 hours. Usually our nights are as follows: Sleeps for 3 hours, BF, sleeps for 2 hours, BF, sleeps for 1 or 2 hours and then is up for the day. I know it isn't uncommon, but it just seems like everyone else's LOs are STTN at 2 or 3 months and mine is showing no interest whatsoever. Please reassure me and tell me it's normal and that maybe it will get better? Maybe?

Re: Question/concern about STTN
I think it's uncommon to have a 2 mo STTN. A 3 mo old even. Their brains aren't wired to absorb their caloric intake throughout the day yet and go more than 5 hours without needing to nurse.
3 x wakeup per night sounds pretty good at this age. It will get better, but just give it time.

It's normal from my experience. It's only in the last few weeks that DD sleeps 8/9 p.m.- 3 a.m., nurse, sleep 3:30-6 a.m. when I then wake her to eat/change before I leave at 7 a.m. for work. It will get better!
So why am I nesting at 1:30 a.m. then? Because she woke to eat now instead of 3. So she'll likely be up again a few hours after this.

My DS didn't consistently STTN until 10 1/2 months... I know I felt the same way that you do; it always seemed like everyone else's baby was sleeping through the night the day after they got home from the hospital... I was very frustrated in our lack of sleep, but I think that it is pretty normal for babies to take longer than 2-3 months to STTN. Now, I think that 10 1/2 months is a little long, but also not abnormal.
And yes, it WILL get better. My DS is an awesome sleeper now; he usually sleeps from 7-7. He sleeps better than the two couples that used to brag (and rub in how our DS didn't STTN) how their babies would STTN at a young age. Ha! Payback.
Hang in there! It's totally normal and it will get better. At around 10 weeks, DD was sleeping in 4 -5 hour cycles. By the time 12 weeks rolled around she was sleeping 8-10 hours.
My DS didn't STTN until 6 months and that was short-lived once he realized how fun it was to sleep on his stomach. We do not feed him in the middle of the night anymore.
I think it just takes longer for some kids, but it does get better! Sorry!
