WDYT of Alba?

This was the name of the girl in Time Traveler's Wife. If it weren't for the celebrity connection (Jessica Alba) I think I just might like it!

We have a girl named Alba at my school.  She is beautiful and really smart.  Her family moved to the States from Mexico last school year.

Not many people would have this association so take this with a grain of salt....but i work in the dental field (im a hygienist) and we learned in school about "materia alba" which is the yucky white plaque that builds up on your teeth....so whenever I hear the word "alba" this is what I think of! Gross I know...but kinda funny.....

i think of the beauty products they sell at places like whole foods. and jessica alba of course. i don't like it as a name at all.

Why would you think Dumbledore? His first name is Albus, not Alba.

It used to remind me of Jessica Alba, but I just finished the book The Time Traveler's Wife and now I just think of their daughter when I hear the name Alba.  I like it now that it has that connotation for me, as it was a very sweet name/meaning they chose for her.

I don't really like the sound of the name, so it's not for me, but If you want something that is/will stay 'different' I'd stay away from this name. Historically great movie characters names get pretty played out:

Noah: The Notebook

Aiden: Sex and the City

 Madison: Splash

Jennifer: Love Story

It's also the name of the daughter in The House of the The Spirits. It makes me think of the singer Albita ("little" Alba). I think it's a strange name to use if you're not Hispanic at all.
