Are you asking about the Tag, or the new Tag Junior? I think the Tag's recommended age is 4+. My 5 year old niece has one and absolutely loves it. I think the books are expensive, but she got it as a gift. It's geared towards children learning how to read themselves though - so, not for toddlers. I have heard that they just released a Tag Junior for toddlers though (ages 2-4). It's pretty new so I haven't heard anything about it.
Yeah, we have it. My DD really isn't into it yet, but my friends almost 4 year old son loves it. You have to place the reader on the book and let it read, however my DD will keep moving it around and up and down and it will repeat the same thing over and over. So annoying. We don't play with it very often.
I got it for my DD's second Bday. She loves it. My dd also moves around the page alot but her's doesn't repeat the same thing over and over. It gives a sound, the word and something else before it starts to repeat. I really like that the little wand is short and chunky. It seems to be just right for smaller hands. DD also LOVES that it says her name when you turn it off and off. She'll point to herself and say, "he say me!" The books are board books so you don't have to worry about the pages getting torn.
You can go on the leap frog site and get coupons for $5 off of the system and $3 off of the books. Target also allowed me to use the $3 off coupon for the bag.
