3rd Trimester

On the subject of registries...

Instead of mine, I am stalking a registry from someone I know that is due a few weeks before me, having her shower a week before her due date.

Target has 85 items (we're not counting wanting more than 1 of each) BRU- 75.

She marked down a total of 5 carseats, 4 diaper bags, 2 jogger strollers, 2 cribs and 2 sets of bedding, nursing bras, multiple breast pumps and a BUNCH of diapers. Even swimmers, and they don't have a pool.

When I rsvp'd to the shower, her mom mentioned that they will be taking anything they get 2 of back before the baby comes. I'm guessing they wanted to make sure someone who wanted to get them a carseat could at either location...

The only thing I will get off the registry is a pack of diapers for the raffle- we're a little broke with our little one being so close, so she gets crocheted baby hats and clothes I found on sale. I'm waiting to see what all gets bought off the registries...

Re: On the subject of registries...

  • Personally, I don't see the point of registering for all sorts of different products (like 5 car seats) - but generally there are enough stores near me to only register at one and have it covered...

I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of returns...

As far as what you're giving - give what you can afford, there's no obligatory gift.

  • She is registered for 5 different car seats?  Overkill much?

  • There's a few things I put doubles of on my registry, mostly because I couldn't decide between the 2. Like diaper bags, slings, and nursing covers. So I figured if I noticed one was bought, I would just take the other off. And if I did end up getting 2 it wasn't the end of the world. I'm sure eventually I'll need another diaper bag.

  • I dont understand this myself. I know quite a few people that have like 5 diaper genies and 2 or 3 travel systems. I just dont get it. I feel bad having multiple "big" items on our registery and we didnt even register for the crib, any of his furniture or his travel system. We bought his bedding and everything that went with it our selves also. I thought maybe these people just wanted to bank the cash when all was said and done.

  • 5 different car seats is excessive. I got a travel system and then I got 2 extra bases. so we have one for my car, one for my mother who is going to be doing the child care and one for DH. We actually got most of the shower stuff away yesterday. DH surprisingly made a "return bag" of things he did not like or thought we had too much for.  It was cute seeing him picking and choosing what he likes for his son.
  • I don't know when the shower is, but maybe she's not done with it yet and was saving her ideas and will narrow it down?  Maybe?  ;-)

  • Hmm, interesting. I have two registeries - Babies 'r' Us and Amazon- and I did double register for a few things, like our car seat and umbrella stroller. The patterns and brands weren't exactly the same, so I had more than one type. However, if I saw they were purchased from one I deleted from the other.

  • I also don't get registering for multiples of things.  When my cousin got married, I looked at her registries (Target & BBB) and she had SEVEN bathroom sets split between the 2 stores.  She only has 1 bathroom in her house.  Then she helped her SIL register for her baby and she had 5 different bedding sets.  Really?  Is that necessary?  I wouldn't want to return all that stuff.
