Instead of mine, I am stalking a registry from someone I know that is due a few weeks before me, having her shower a week before her due date.
Target has 85 items (we're not counting wanting more than 1 of each) BRU- 75.
She marked down a total of 5 carseats, 4 diaper bags, 2 jogger strollers, 2 cribs and 2 sets of bedding, nursing bras, multiple breast pumps and a BUNCH of diapers. Even swimmers, and they don't have a pool.
When I rsvp'd to the shower, her mom mentioned that they will be taking anything they get 2 of back before the baby comes. I'm guessing they wanted to make sure someone who wanted to get them a carseat could at either location...
The only thing I will get off the registry is a pack of diapers for the raffle- we're a little broke with our little one being so close, so she gets crocheted baby hats and clothes I found on sale. I'm waiting to see what all gets bought off the registries...
Re: On the subject of registries...
Personally, I don't see the point of registering for all sorts of different products (like 5 car seats) - but generally there are enough stores near me to only register at one and have it covered...
I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of returns...
As far as what you're giving - give what you can afford, there's no obligatory gift.

She is registered for 5 different car seats? Overkill much?
I don't know when the shower is, but maybe she's not done with it yet and was saving her ideas and will narrow it down? Maybe? ;-)
