I have a friend who is having a boy after two girls and is trying to make a decision regarding circumcising. If you have any articles can you post links? I'm trying to help her out since she has two toddlers and it does make it harder to research. Articles with views from either side are much appreciated. I know there was one posted earlier, and I sent that to her, but I want to help her get both sides. We do circumcise, so I don't want to just send her info backing up what we do.

Re: Circumcision
Someone posted a really good article with a new study about circumcision earlier this morning on here. Here's the link she posted:

Unrelated to the article, my husband and I have already decided that when our son arrives, he will be circumcised.
I sent her that link when I saw it this morning. I just don't want her to think we're pushing what we believe onto her (DS is circ'd), and I think it's important to have info from both sides. She's got 20 month old twins, so I'm just trying to help her out.
my DH wasn't circumcised and it ended up being a problem for him. Sometime when he first started having sex he tore some (b/c it does attach in one little spot) and that spot was fine (hurt but later was fine) but then a bit after we got married started bothering him again and the hassle of always having to pull back etc. So he got circumcised at 26. That is NOT a fun process for a grown man... i mean his went well, no complications... but he would wake up in the middle of the night in pain b/c his penis was trying to do what it does at night, expand and that's not a good idea when there are stitches.
Now NO not everyone has complications but i've heard his brother is having some issues now too... so save your child the embarrassment (of the pain during sex) and having to fix it later.
I believe these are fairly rare complications of being uncircumcised. My DH is not circumcised and he has never had any issues or pain during sex. There are also some complications that can happen with circumcision that can cause similar issues, but I believe they are equally as rare.
Point is, take anecdotal advice with a grain of salt. There are horror stories on both ends, but the vast majority of men have no issues at all regardless of whether they are cut or uncut.

This is a great article in comparison to the one mentioned previously (about Africa & HIV)

I agree with the poster that suggested MDC's Case against circumcision boards. I would go one step farther and suggest she not actually post unless she has a specific question. Some of the posters there can be a little *um* passionate.

My Husband is circ'ed - but J isn't and new baby won't be either. My adult brothers are not and neither has ever had a complication. They both also claim to never have had any of the 'locker room syndrome' despite both being born in the circ happy 80's. Like the younger said: "no guy would say anything, that is flat out admitting to checking out other guy's junk."
H and I did a ton of research before coming to a decision including reading a ton of circ studies (I was lucky enough to work for a huge pharma co so I had access to endless med journals) and researching all the pain relief options offered to infants. In the end we decided against circumcision.
Good for your friend for wanting to make and educated decision and good for you for being open to present both sides of the argument.
