My past two appts. my belly is measuring two weeks ahead. Doc is considering this a "healthly variance". She also said that if I measure 3 weeks bigger than an u/s would be needed to determine the size. Anyone else have this going on?
At 28 weeks I measured 30. The doctor said it real matter of fact. I said "wait, but I'm only 28" and she said she wasn't worried. She did not make any comment about being more than 2 weeks ahead.
I moved and switched doctors this past week. I have to admit that I was so involved in all the questions that came with switching doctors that I didn't ask about being measured. She felt my uterus but I don't remember her measuring it. I should probably check my paperwork.
This is the first time I've ever measured ahead, but she idicated that it was no big deal.
How certain are you on your due date? If you ovulated later than the "average" 14th day after your LMP, your due date could be off by as much as a few weeks. So maybe you're just further along than you expected!

I'm in the same situation! I have been measuring at least 2 weeks ahead since they started measuring (and I am certain of when I o'd). They did the growth u/s on Friday and guessed him to be around 7lb2oz- 74%ile. They also said I had a little extra fluid, which would have added to the "largeness" of my belly. A NST confirmed that everything's fine- he's just a bigger guy!

I've always measured ahead. At 36 weeks I was measuring 39 weeks. In fact, LO was estimated to be 7 1/2 lbs. at 36 weeks. (Considering all my complications,) I'm taking it as a good thing, and my perinatologist isn't worried.
I've been measuring 3-5 weeks ahead since 17 weeks but an u/s from last week dated baby only a week ahead, they won't change due date unless baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead
Measuring your fundal height isn't an exact science. It's perfectly normal to be within 2-3cm.
Even if you're "measuring ahead" doesn't mean that LO is really ahead of schedule. The measurement can vary depending on several things, like the position of LO.
i am measuring 2-3 weeks ahead and i've already dropped. but I am certain of my O date. babies in my family have a history of arriving early though. My doc thinks she is going to come earlier than anticipated as well.

I'm measuring big. I had my appt on Tuesday and they said he is measuring about 3lbs 11 oz. I had an u/s to make sure my placenta moved up (it did). Both the u/s tech and dr checked my glucose results at least twice because he is measuring big. They said in about 4 weeks they'll do another u/s to see where he is at. They both said that this does not mean that I will be due sooner.
Most of my friends have told me not to worry b/c their children supposedly measured big but came out at normail weights. So measuring is not an exact science.
In our clinic we tell our patients that as long as they are within 2 weeks/cm they are fine and nothing needs to be done. Variances in belly size can be due to babys position, size, or even amount of amniotic fluid.
On a personal note. Ever since 26 weeks I have measured 6 weeks ahead. I ended up having polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid) so most of my OB visits have also had ultrasounds to check my amniotic fluid index (AFI).
