TTC after 35

Started injections tonight

So, I went for my day 3 B/W & U/S today (even though it is day 4--they are pushing me back b/c I am going away).  My B/W came back and my FSH number went from 5.53 to 9.something!!!  That has me a little worried.  Why would it jump like that??  The 5.53 was only back in April.

At the U/S the Doc said I had 9 follies on the right.  Those were the ones we want to stimulate.  The left had only 4.  He said I probably ovulated from that side this month.

I gave myself my first injection of Bravelle.  I have read that they don't hurt, but this really stung.  Anyone else have the same experience with this??

Re: Started injections tonight

  • I have not used bravelle, but I have used menopur, and I do believe they , in essence, are the same drug.  And, yes, it burns like heck! :)

I had a major FSH jump like that about a year and a half ago.  Although mine has gone up (fingers crossed) I still respond fairly well to the drugs.

Hopefully you will not have to have your FSH checked next month ( because you'll be PG) but see what it is... sometimes it can be a fluke.

  • Good luck!!

I had to have cd3 bloodwork again yesterday and I don't want to know the results. I am nervous my fsh will be higher too.

I haven't done the bravelle injections, but I think I have seen other posters mention that it burns.

  • i personlly don't have experience with Bravelle, but have heard like pp said that it burns,

well for that matter, anything you inject into yourself is probably going to hurt at least a little,  its a needle. eek.  i don' know what i'm going to do if we move on to injectables.  i'm a nurse. but i hate getting shots, i cant even watch when i get my blood drawn.  i know i am weak.

congrats to you.  good luck on your cycle.

  • FSH can vary a lot. Mine is usually 6.5- 8.5, but 2 months ago it was a 4.

9 is still within normal range so I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck!

  • I used Bravelle with my first IUI in '07 and it did burn although not everytime.  These past 2 IUIs I was using Gonal-F and it didn't.  Not sure what the difference was, though they did tell me the needle with the Gonal-F is a little smaller (maybe that has something to do with it).  Best of luck to you!

  • I would be so happy with a FSH in single digits!  Mine had a HUGE jump in less than a year (RE says age related).  I don't think it is strange for it to fluctuate though and a 9 is still pretty good.
  • Good Luck with everything!

I agree with pps, your FSH it still within a good range @ 9...don't sweat it.
