HELP! I think DD might have Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

Call me paranoid, but DD has been running a low grade fever since last night and I have just noticed a little rash between her toes on her left foot.  Does anyone know anything about this virus!?!  I wish I would have noticed it earlier this morning so that I could have called her Pedi!!

Re: HELP! I think DD might have Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

  • Sounds like she might have it. My son had it a few months ago. He never had the mouth sores but did have dots in between his toes and on the bottom of his feet. He had a low grade fever for days (we though it was just teeth at first). He didn't eat as well for a few days and was crabby. The whole thing lasted a week or so and we just tried to keep him hydrated and comfortable. ?Good luck!

  • Did you take him to the Dr.?  I understand that there really isn't anything that can be done for them.  Also, does he go to daycare?  Did you have to stay at home with him?  This sucks!!
  • I work at a daycare and this goes around a lot. DD has also had a very mild case of it. They usually have sores on their hands and feet, and run a low fever. They can get sores in their mouth if it gets really bad. There is really nothing you can do for it but to let it run its course. They do need to stay home from daycare, but if they already have the sores they have been contagious for a few days. Just give her some tylenol if she seems uncomfortable. I hope she feels better soon!!
