Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Has anyone read Good Night, Sleep Tight: The Sleep Lady's Solution?

If so, can you share your experiences with using the techniques to getting LO to sleep?

I'm not so worried about the whole STTN thing...Our biggest concern is that Colin will not nap unless he is being held and he is hard to get down at night.

I just got him down almost 30 minutes ago for his nap and it actually worked. He's using a lovey (won't take a paci) and I shushed him and patted him for about 15 minutes! I feel like this is a great start after a terrible night. (Up often, finally gave up and brought him to bed with me around 1:30 am.)

Just trying to get some encouragement:)

TIA!

  • We jsut started and are having great success!  DS has been a bad sleeper.  I used to hold him for naps and couldn't get anything done.  I decided this past Tuesday that he was napping in his crib.  It took 25 min to get him to sleep for 25 min.  I decided that wasn't a long enough nap so I shushed, patted, gave the love and paci and it took 35 min but he then slept for 1 hour 15 min. I realized ffrom doing this that we were waking ds up more at night by taking him out of the crib and rocking him back to sleep.  He is now only waking up at 5:15 and we go in and pat him and he sleeps til 7.  My sister is also doing it with her 2 month old and she lays her down and the baby is asleep within 5 minutes. Good Luck!  it is so great to finally get things done during the day

  • Thanks so much for responding! I'm really excited because it's now 12:44 and he's been asleep for an hour and 15 minutes now! YAY! I'm optimistic.

    GL to you too!!!

  • I used her methods on my 3 year old son when he was one. He would vomit when we tried Ferber.  Sleep lady worked beautifully.  He still is a great sleeper.  I wish that I had used her method sooner and if this new little guy is not a good sleeper I will use it again.

  • I'm curious- what types of methods does she go over? DS vomits when we try CIO/Ferber, but I want to find out a little more about her methods before I go and buy the book (this would be the 3rd sleep book I've bought so far, lol)
