Work 12 hour days on weekend.. DC help

I beginning to worry about what I'm going to do about daycare. I work at an emergency veterinary hospital on the weekend and my days are 12+ hours long. I know I'm not going to find a DC facility but I don't trust those random in home posts I see everywhere. Anyone have any suggestions? I live 2 hours or more fro many family that could help and we're not sure how much DH's family would help. If I change my schedule I would lose a $3 differential and we really can't afford that kind of paycut.. I'm losing my mind worrying about this!

  • Could you look for a sitter of some kind?  Maybe a college student?

  • Will SO be home to help care for your lo? If not I would look at sitters. Call your ccommunity child care provider agency or look in the yellow pages for nanny services. They may be able to help you or point you in the right direction.

I work Friday evenings 1-9 pm and then sat mornings 9-6. So my mom looks after C from 11am Fri until 630 on Saturday (I go for supper there on Sat) when my dh is oot working.

Good luck. I know the wierd hours where a worry for me too, but you'll make a plan that works for you and it will all come together I promise.

  • I also work 12 hour shifts on the weekends. I have a wonderful lady on our street that watches DS on Fridays, then Sat and Sun DH has him all to his self...

I was worried at first about DH watching him for so long, but he seems to be fine....with the occasional complaint about how his missing out on his usual activities on the weekends. Eh, suck it up. gotta do whatcha gotta do...

image Alcoholism is not determined by how much you drink or how often, but by negative consequences in your life that do not alter your drinking habits.
  • I work 12 hour shifts in the healthcare field and my husband works 4 days (10 hour shifts). So he watches Sayla Friday/Sat/Sun while I work and I am with her when he's at work. We have family time every evening and when we take days off together. He always flexes his schedule for her doctor appointments and bonus family time. Is there a reason your husband can't watch the baby?

  • Is your DH off on weekends? Thank goodness mine is, as I was working 24-30 hours  at a time as a resident.
