I am going to be taking care of an infant 3 days a week for 8-9 hours a
day. I will be going to the persons house and taking DS with me... its
a friend of mine... who I know makes A LOT of money (so I dont feel
like I have to give her a break cause shes a friend) What would you
charge? Or are you currently paying?
Re: How much would you charge (RE:Child care)
id charge $150/week
I did it.It was hell. Worst idea ever. I charged $100/day. $12.50/hr. Wasn't worth $1000 a week.
Good luck though.
Please share your experience! What was so bad about it? Did you feel like your time with your LO was effected a lot?
Yes. I couldn't give either kid what I wanted. They were too close in age and yet so developmentally far apart. I felt like a failure almost all the time and every night found myself praying/begging to be a better mom the next day. I watched the kid 3 days a week and my daughter and I would spend Fridays sleeping and Mondays were always spent in fear of starting it again. My daughter wasn't really thrilled with the kid - but she LOVES other kids, so that didn't help either.
For me it sucked. I'm pretty hands on though...and while I let my daughter play alone a lot I am always, always with her every second and very attentive...having another kid meant we never got out and socialized either. My daughter is very social and being stuck inside all day every day sucked for her.
It was a major adjustment to our budget but so, so worth it for me to quit. It may be totally different for you - but if you find yourself in the same situation just know not to hang on and "tough it out". You only get this one chance, this one childhood with your kid. I am so happy to never miss, or be distracted another second. I will say though, I am SO much happier than if I didn't know the difference. Again, great luck!
we're blessed. we bring our baby to the sitters and she only charges 15.00 per day (she has her about 5 1/2 - 6 hours a day) and on days she's there longer if DH has an earlier shift, she charges 20.00.
for 3 days a week 9ish hrs a day, maybe 80 or 90?
