Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I know not to compare but....

reading some of the other mom's posts - I am getting a little worried. My DD is 8 months and 1 week old. She sits, rocks on all 4's, is very responsive (laughs smiles etc) however she does not do anything to mimic yet. She doesn't clap, kiss, do "so big", say anything that we say to her, etc. She does her own thing.

It is so not like me to get crazed about this but reading all of these posts is starting to get to me a little worried. Do any of your LO's around this age not mimic or do "tricks" yet?

Re: I know not to compare but....

  • DS doesn't do any of that stuff either.  I'm not worried- he'll eventually pick up on those things.

  • My lo did the same rocking on all fours and then one day out of nowhere he just started crawling. I don't think anything is wrong since every baby is diff. If you are concerned why don't you call your pedi to ease your mind a bit.

  • DS doesn't do any of that either. ?He doesn't even rock on all 4s. ?He still "swims" on his belly and then rolls over.
  • maybe your LO will just have a more reserved personality. My neice is 18 months and still doesn't do all that stuff. I mean, she obviously walks and all that but she's not overly smiley, doesnt talk much, doesnt wave or kiss. She just seems shy to me.
Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • My 10 1/2 month old DD has just recently begun to imitate...she wasn't interested before that.  I wouldn't worry! :)
