What to get for used Pump?

My SIL is giving me her Medela Pump In Style. I know I need all new parts. What do I need to get besides the tubing? Anyone know of a check list to referenence? or a accessories kit to purchase?

I went on the Medela site and it does not have a checklist or a kit to purchase. (because they do not reccomend using a "used" pump)

TIA!!

Re: What to get for used Pump?

  • I would just replace everything - tubing, horns, valves, bottles, etc...  It won't be too expensive so I don't see any reason not to.

  • From my own sister...honestly I would probably just use the same bottles, flanges, etc.  I would just sterilize them by boiling in water for 10 minutes.

The new parts that you will need to buy if you want, are

the cups that go over your nipple (flanges?)

the "connector" piece, it's t shaped, clear plastic.

    membranes

tubing (call medela and tell them you need new tubing for your pump, don't mention that it's used)

bottles.  I really like the Medela bottle system, that's what we use.

  • The replacement parts (as stated in PP) are not very expensive as compared to the price of the pump. I bought tubes last week new for $6.50 per a tube, but in Canada, and so it is probably closer to half that there. Try ordering them from an online or in-store health care supply company, they are usually the cheapest. If you phone Medela, they will tell you the names and addresses of all the vendors in your area.
