Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Seriously, DS, you "clapped" at me!

I don't know how I went from a DS of 11 months to the terrible twos over night- but he woke at 2:15am and didn't go back to sleep until 4:45am.  After a long stretch of trying to let him settle himself I went back in his room to help settle him and he was standing up in his crib crying- when he saw me he stopped crying and started to clap.  Seriously, he clapped at me!  Like, good job mom, it's about time you showed up!  I was so tired at that point- but it was freaking hysterical!  Thought I would share!

  • That is really annoying and absolutely hysterical at the same time.  If my daughter did that, I would probably roll over laughing.  Has it been more than one night that he hasn't slept well.  If it was only last night, I would just chalk it up to a weird night.  If it continues,  Don't go in the room.  He will only start to expect it.  We Ferbered and it was the best.  After the worst week and half ever, my daughter sleeps like a champ.  I can't get that image of the baby standing and clapping out of my head b/c I can totally picture my DD doing that.

DS and sleeping have been interesting...but usually never this bad.  He STTN 80% of the time, and usually the nights he wakes it is only for like a 1/2 hour and for a reason I can identify- poopy diaper etc.  He is getting his one year molars and fighting a cold- so I think it was the combo of the two last night that made it drag on for so long!

  • Molars and a cold can do it.  80% isn't that bad.  I wouldn't stress about it then.  I wish my daughter got fussy for poopy diapers.  She doesn't make a peep when she poops.  I just have to wait till the smell hits me.  Yuck!

Yeah, not that bad, and he only cares about poopy diapers if he wakes up- I think the "act" of going wakes him more than the diaper because during the day he could care less!
