NTR: f/u to my weird wedding dilemma

I posted this awhile back regarding my DH's admin's upcoming wedding where I wasn't invited (sorry no clicky) and was confused about the whole thing:
?
?
Well, DH never really checked into it more with his co-workers and just decided he didn't want to go regardless. So he sent in the decline and also mentioned it to her as a courtesy (that he was sorry, blah, blah). Sooo...I mentioned it this AM to him because we are still going to probably sent some sort of gift (maybe from the work group). And he told me that something she just said something else really weird to him. I guess she said that since he wasn't able to make it, she is sending ME an invite instead. WTF???!!! Now DH isn't entirely sure what she means and could have misunderstood, but he took it as she now wants me to attend in his place. Seriously? After I wasn't invited in the FIRST PLACE?! I've never even met her! And certainly wouldn't attend without DH. Now it's clear she just wants a warm body and a gift. Gah. Really weird, right?
?
We haven't received anything else from her yet, but now I'm really curious if that will be the case. She might be totally off her rocker!

  • Just ignore and send ONE gift. What a weird/awkward situation.

  • Yeah, sounds like she's just grubbing for gifts.  Why would she invite someone she's never even met to her wedding?  That is so greedy, disgusting and would piss me off to the point that I'd consider not sending a gift at all.
  • yeah that is weird.  Send a gift and be done.

  • I just read the first post and I would have been SOOO tempted to reply "Yes - 2 will attend" on the reply card then make her have to tell you that you aren't invited (you hear about this happening all the time).  I would NEVER actually do it but when I get an invite to something that they know I couldn't/wouldn't go to in order to get a gift, it ticks me off.  There were a couple people that I invited to my wedding that I didn't think would come but I would have loved to have them there.

This chick sounds a little strange.

    Completely agree with this.
