Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Don't you just hate it when...

someone walks up to you and says 'Your baby is soooooo cute, how old is she, what's her name?' and then walks off without even acknowledging your other child who is standing there with that look in her poor, sweet, little eyes?  Once my then 25 month old said to one woman 'I pretty too.'  My heart broke into a million pieces.  I wanted to say 'Hey lady!  Your compliment is insulting my child.'

I was thinking of a great comment....like....

Yes, I have two sweet angels.

Yes, they are BOTH the apples of my eyes.

Any others?

  • Yeah that is sad...  Especially since your older daughter is still too young to really understand that people just make comments like that to little babies and that she is not being excluded.  How sad :(

  • Aw, that is so sad!!  You could always say something to the effect of "I am so lucky to have such beautiful/sweet/fun/loving children!"

  • I think you're on the right track. Something like "Aw, thanks. We think both of our girls are pretty adorable."
  • That is so sad!  Both of your girls are beautiful, and I adore your older dd's puffs.  If I have a little girl in the future, she is going to rock that same hairstyle.

I hate that DS has a perfectly phonetic 2 syllable name, and people still mess it up.

  • That breaks my heart.  She is pretty!  Why are people so stupid sometimes?
  • Thanks!!!  You're too sweet.

  • Aw, both your girls are beautiful!! They look like little models!

I don't think Tay would notice if someone did that but now I'll have to keep in mind as she is getting older she might catch on to little things like that.

If someone came up & started talking about my baby though asking how old she was...I would say oh she's 6 months and her sister is 2...hopefully, that would prompt a compliment for the other dd.

  • Happens to my sister all the time. Yes, my niece is stunningly gorgeous. But her brothers are good-looking little guys who are going to break a lot of hearts in a few years.

Luckily, they are boys' boys, so they don't really care too much about people going on and on about their beautiful little sister. But it does get a little old sometimes and the 11yo can get a little sensitive if he's heard her gushed over too much in one day.
