Those doing "Ferber"

This is not a flame, at all.  I'm just wondering are any of you following a book?

I used the book "the sleepeasy solution."  It was great and has a lot of info on a lot of the questions I see asked here.  It also is considered to be the method with the least amount of crying.  You don't have to get that book, but I 1000% recommend some kind of book.

Reading the book reassured me I wasn't damaging my LO and also gives a lot of reasonable explanations as to why LO doesn't want to sleep, etc.  It also has tips for what to do after teething/sickness/switching to a bed, etc.

It's def tough, but for us it worked great.  DS sleeps usually 11-12 hrs/night.  Good LUck!

Re: Those doing "Ferber"

  • I HATE seeing people say "We're doing Ferber" then later admit they've never read the book (or any book at all). ?So ITA, reading a book before sleep training is definitely in order.

For another rec: I loved Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child. ?Much easier to read than Ferber, same general idea, but sort of Ferber Lite.?

  • I agree.  I think it is making harder on yourself and your LO if you jump into sleep training w/o a book.  I still reference mine, 4 months after, when ds is having a sleep issue.
  • Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems by Dr. Richard Ferber

I thought this was common sense. :::shrug:::
