boy or girl? What do you think?

Re: boy or girl? What do you think?

  • He/she has a very, um, masculine look but that doesn't *prove* anything. However, I wouldn't be shocked if she turned out to be a he. It's not the first time that's happened in women's sports.?

Exactly. ?I think on GMA today they said that the first time it happened in the Olympics was in the 1920's.?

  • No bulge but no bewbs...??  And in the article photo it looks like he/she has a 'stache....?

What kills me is the remark made that if the runner was a European or "white" person, there would be no gender scrutiny.  Uh, yeah there would!  If you can't tell by looking at the person, regardless of color/race/culture I sure as hell hope there would be tests!

I voted girl due to the lack of..um...BULGE

there could be ... erm ... tuckage, however, ala Lady Gaga.

  • Oh wow. I just read the part about a gender test including a gyn exam, a psychologist and a gender expert (among other things). How damaging would it be for a young girl that has been raised female, and on all accounts knows she's a female, to be told "you don't get to keep what you earned because we actually decided you are too ambiguous/too masculine to be considered a woman." It all seems so strange.

And I'm getting extremely annoyed at the use of the word "gender" in this context.

ETA: Now, if it comes out that "she" has been knowingly cheating...my above rant goes out the window. I'm basing it on the assumption that she isn't lying.

LOL  agreed.  And I was thinking though she could have taken testosterone to maybe gain an atheletic edge and help her bulk up, how do you explain the man-jaw?  And brow bones?!?

I have a problem with that part of the article also.  There have been European (German) women whose gender has been called into question.  As well as Chinese, Brazilian and Indian (although I realize none of those examples are European).

  • Well, Megan Fox has an adam's apple and toe thumbs, but everyone is convinced SHE'S a girl ... so ... IDK anymore. Life is confusing.

    I lurve you.

  • I couldn't get past all the spelling errors in the first sentence....

So my vote is purely based on the picture. boy

ETA: I take everything back.... I need to start paying more attention. LOL

  • Jenerally - you are hilarious (re: Megan Fox).

BTW, I vote boy, but I learned a while back during the "pregnant man" fiasco that I don't even fully understand the meaning of the term "gender," so...

    re: tuckage

you think she/he could really run that fast with it tucked? guess I don't know much about running with a THANG

LMAO!  See, I was thinking that as well, imagining in order to "tuck" it would involve a lot keeping the legs together.   Perhaps there are "devices" we haven't pondered... Huh?

EXACTLY my thoughts. We are soul sisters.

  • The verification test, which takes weeks to complete, requires a physical medical evaluation, and includes reports from a gynecologist, endocrinologist, psychologist, an internal medicine specialist and an expert on gender

Really?  They can't just draw blood and see if she's XX or XY?
