What is a Presentation Shower?

Re: What is a Presentation Shower?

  • It's a shower where you bring the gifts unwrapped.

  • I've never heard of it either, but what I gather from the other post, it is a shower where people bring unwrapped gifts.  Though, I googled it and people on other message boards seem to think it's a money-only shower.
  • Tess, maybe in some regions it could be a money only thing...but around here, it just means that you bring the gift with no wrapping and it goes on display on a table.

That is so weird! Never heard of that until today.

  • My aunt did this for my bridal shower.  It was pretty neat to see what people came up with.  She had gifts in specific parts of the house (kitchen stuff in the kitchen, towels in the bed/bath, etc.)  Some got really creative and did bakeware etc. and included ingredients to a specific recipe.  When it was time to "open" the gifts, the giver walked with me to their gift and shared why they purchased it.  We were in tears over some of the items because of the meaning!

You know, I read that in the OP, but somehow I thought there was more to it. LOL  Please excuse my ig'nance.  I think a large portion of my brain is focusing on keeping the news a secret from DH and close friends until "the big reveal."  I'm also just now understanding what Francisca meant about not liking showers that "dictate gifts."  I thought "don't all showers dictate that you get a gift???"  Now I realize she meant dictate about the particular gifts or anything aobut the gifts.  Yeah, I'm an idiot today.
