Please Lord, I love this baby already, we are ready when You are.
I wanted to tell you this the other day, but work has been sucking the life out of me.
I broke my hip, oh, 12 years ago in a car accident. It sucks ass for years after, but it rarely bothers me now. I did, however, have some pain while in labor, even with the epidural.
I don't want to scare you, but I did want to let you know that it did give me some issue while pushing. I give you more detail if you want it, but suffice it to say it hurt.

Thank you. The problems with my hip are structural in nature that will continue to degrade the joint cartilage. That is already shred to pieces, as well as bone spurs being in place. The femur also "knocks" into the joint, thus causing more damage.
I had a LONGGG discussion with the knee surgeon (who is friends with the H and in the same practice as the hip surgeon). My husband is an athletic trainer..and has a good deal of knowledge- they all agree that hip will get worse...so, I am having the surgery. Hip surgeon is confident and the knee surgeon, when I told him I was nervous, said he's try to come and assist.
As far as labour goes- I will likely NEVER have a vaginal delivery. I did not write my birth story...for a reason. That was a concern expressed by both surgeons.
I would like to know more of your story, as long as it is not prying. I feel like I am out of place (none of my other friends IRL) have this hip complaint..and well, its REALLY effecting me..on all levels. So, yes, I'd like to talk with you more. Thank you.

Not prying at all. My hip was fractured in 3 places. I didn't have surgery because although there were 3 fractures, none was a major break. I was on bedrest for 2 weeks and an additional 6 weeks on crutches. The orthopedic did not reccommed any PT. I wished later he had, but it may have not have done anything.
It bothered me for a long time after the accident. The first year was bad. It was hard for me to walk long distances. When I got tired, it would hurt and I had a noticable limp. I was fantastic at predicting the weather, though. I could tell when it was going to rain for several years afterward, within about 5 min. LOL
My OB at the time said he didn't thing it would ever affect labor. I may have mentioned it to my currect OB in passing, but I never made a big deal about it, since I really believed it wouldn't be an issue. I had an epi and I literally felt nothing in my legs at all even hours after. Once I stated to push, however, the pain in my hip came full force. I did not have pain every time, but when I did, it felt like my hip was going to explode. I would stop pushung and was getting yelled at by everyone in the room. I had D readjust my leg and I could push again.
Holy crap that is LONG!! Sorry about that. Tee hee. Let me know if you want to know anything else.

I have never had a break, but ACL/meniscus/and now micro fracture surgery in the knees. the hip thing....is making me very nervous.
how old were you when this happened?
