Links from an argument between people I know having via facebook status updates and notes regarding kids getting chiropractic adjustments to cure ear aches to bed wetting and even ADD/ADHD
I think "cure" is a strong word to use. If it chiro can help adults, why couldn't it help kids? I take my son to a chiro. It isn't like they do the same kind of manual manipulation on a child that they do on an adult (at least mine doesn't). My chiro (and the one I used in a previous state) both just used an activator on my son.
I know 1st hand they help with ear problems! DS1 had fluid in hs ears for months. We were going back and forth to the ENT getting RX. It never went down. I was working for a chiro and she offered to do some adjustments on him. The next ENT appointment his fluid had went down! Oh and he was 14 months when we did this.
Oh and FWIW when DS2 was a week old my LC told me to take him to a special chiro to get worked on. He favored one side and would always roll to that side. We ended up not taking him and just working on it ourself.
I am a big believer in chiropractic...for things that make sense. Things related to bones, joints, and I'll even go for nerve pain things. I used to get a lot of migraine relief from adjustments.
But, in Pittsburgh at least, chiropractors have become zealous alternative medicine "pushers." My husband would get an incredible amount of relief for his back pain from chiropractic, but has such a bad taste in his mouth from the tactics they use, he won't go to one in our area, where they really just care about fixing your spine.
Re: do you think this is total BS?
My chiropractor believes that chiropractics have vastly improved her sons life- he is autistic and is super high functioning.
