Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

xp: some buyers want us to move by 9/1?! Advice?

we don't know how much the offer is, but if it's good, are we insane to consider?we have not offered on anything yet, and we have no family here, so we'd need temp. housing. Our dogs are loud and obnoxious, so I doubt we could bring them to a residence inn. Boarding is $60/day. What would you do? What if we say no and get no other offers? Been on the market 2 weeks. this is crazy! Eta: aack, many typos. I'm a little freaked out.

  • Wow!  I'm impressed you're getting an offer so soon.  I don't know what I'd do in that situation either other than make them pay a lot.  Good luck.

  • I dont know your situation but if the offer is good, I would definately take it!  You don't know if it would come again.

Another option is to rent back from the people who buy your house.  It's not uncommon so ask the realtor about it.

  • If the offer is worth it I would do it. The housing market still isn't great by me, so I would take it! I wouldn't settle for all that unless I was making the money I wanted from the house.
  • Could you find a house/condo/apt to rent that would allow dogs?  Just get a short term or month to month lease?

  • You could do a temporary residential lease of your own property if they want to close but don't want to move in yet. (It might give you another week in your house in which they would rent to you.)  That is soooo close though.  Unless they have their funding set up and the title company is on board, I wouldn't stress about it until you see it in writing.  Closings tend to take a bit of time...inspections, appraisals, etc.  If it is legit, I would make sure the offer would cover your expenses to move out quickly.  In this market though, I would probably pack my boxes!! Good luck on getting a big offer!
  • Unless they're paying cash and are waiving the inspection contingency, they are not going to be able to close by 9/1.  Don't worry about it until you see it in writing.

    Ditto this exactly.  GL!

  • Ok, we passed along that for the right offer, we would. Fingers crossed! But not for a low ball, there is still time for decent offers if this one sucks. I will be sitting here obsessing until the offer comes. Thanks for the replies!

  • Vanilla, good point about their financing. Hmm, we'll see. Dude, why can't THEY do temp housing?
