I already have 2 toilet seat adapters for DD. She will sit on them briefly, announce "all done!" when she hasn't done anything but at least is exhibiting more interest than before, probably because she's seeing more of her classmates using the potty. She's fascinated with throwing toilet paper in there and flushing. But I just read somewhere that if their feet can't touch the ground or some solid surface, it can make pooping more difficult as that automatically tightens up the rectal muscles.
so my question is this -- do I just try it first with the seat adapters and step stools or do I let her choose one, keep it hidden and use that instead? I really just want to do what is best and more likely of success. TIA!!!

Re: Potty chair or seat adapter or both?
My DD's daycare nor we used a potty chair. If you decide on just the adaptor, buy a high enough step stool so that her feet can rest on there. Some of the stools are low. Target carries a higher white one which we use. I haven't found any issue with her pooping. She tends to spread her legs pretty widely which helps to relax those pelvic muscles. HTH!
We used both but things I think in this arena really are different for boys, than girls. I liked the ability of having a potty chair in the same room with him while he was playing. I also put it in his room during naptime.
