NTR: Help with charity baby shower

My moms club is hosting a baby shower for a great charity called Bundles of Love. It's an all volunteer org in MN that gives new babies in need all the basics they need to have a good start - layette, supplies, blankets, hats, diaper bag, the works. We're going to collect basic items for the babies and/or donated items of yarn or fabric for the org to use to make the items. I'm organizing so, I need your help with the invite wording and activities that we can do at the shower that will keep the kids in attendance (4 and under) happy and involved.  This is what I have so far:

Description for newsletter:

Friday, Sept. 25 Baby Love! You're invited to a Bundles of Love Baby Shower, 10:00 a.m.

Let's throw a party to help infants in need get off to a great start! Bring donated items (list of needed items to follow) and enjoy a fun party with treats and activities for our little ones to get involved. [Directions to my house]

Can anyone improve on my wording? I'm going to send out a more detailed invitation with the list of items needed. For the party I plan to have treats (probably a cake and juice) but I have no idea what I can do to involve our kids in the fun. Do any of you creative ladies have ideas for me? The only thing I can think of is for each kid to draw a picture or make a card for the babies and their families that could be included in the bundles. Thanks for your help!!

  • Drawing photos would be really cute!  You could also have them draw cards to give to moms who just delivered in the hospital...welcome to the world cards, if need be.  The wording sounds great.   We do this for our group and we tend to also send out an email saying that people are welcome to drop off gifts early at a central location or mail a gift card if they can't attend the shower.  Hope it is a great success!!!!

My nephews just sat for 1/2 hour (which is record time) rolling out "fake dough" and cutting with cookie cutters.  It is basically flour, water and 1/4 cup of oil to make homeade playdough without the colored mess.  Or they could make macaroni necklaces for the new moms with colored thread (might be cheesy but it is cheap!).

Great ideas! Thank you! I love the macaroni necklace idea. That would be fun! Thanks!
