I don't plan on using this, but my mom tossed out the name during a fictional baby naming session.

What do you think of Mesa? Pronounced May-suh... Boy or girl name IYO?

This is just for fun and no heart strings attached

I think I'd go with a girl...but I could see it working either way.

As it is, I'd never use it because it seems like one of those names that no one would know how to say or spell.

Its hard to picture a boy or a girl with that name! I think I'd say it sounds more boy...It is creative but I don't care for it

Ha! That's what I said to my mom! It is actually the name of my home town and means flat piece of land on a hill.

A mesa is a noun-I immediately think desert, sierra, plateau, etc. I don't think of it as a name.

It's a city in AZ, not a name.

It sounds male to me...but my husband was born in Mesa, Arizona (its a big city just outside of Phoenix), so maybe it's because when I think of Mesa, I think of him.

That's where I was raised too, so I can't think of it as anything but my hometown.
