Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Stupid f*%^cking teeth!

He is barely sleeping anymore, won't eat anything, and I can only assume it has to do with the FIVE teeth that poked through in the last day.  That's right - 2 molars and 3 canines.  And another molar and another canine are RIGHT there but haven't broken the gum yet.

So not only is he cranky, but he's only sleeping 9.5-10 hours at night and today he napped less than 2 hours total, so he's exhausted.  I'm exhausted.  At least when all these teeth are through that should be that...

When do they get the next set of molars???

  • that is rough.

since you are a sahm- i would suggest a lot of cuddle time- down time. where you both can relax and just try to comfort him as best as you can. as much as he will allow it. if any.

frozen fruit helps. i put gisele's grapes in the freezer for 15 min before giving them to her with she is teething. do the same with watermelon. helps.

wow- five teeth. that is ALOT! a least you are on the way to not having to worry about it much longer. 20 teeth is a full set. he is 25% there just in one day... !!! :) (sorry i am an accountant!)  hang in there

  • Sorry about the teething.  That really sucks.  Poor little guy.  I had to LOL though because the sleep that you described is what my DD always gets.  I thought that was pretty good.

  • UGH - I can feel your pain. Teething is absolutely horrible. I agree with PP - lots of cuddle time will hopefully help. Sometimes my son likes to chew on  a toothbrush - must make his gums feel good.

As for the next set of molars - I think it varies by child when they come in, but I know that my DS is just starting to work on his 2 year molars... I can hardly wait - whooppeee!

You know what, I think he recently went through a growth spurt because he was sleeping so well for a couple of weeks there...but you're right, 10 hours at night and 2 hours of napping is probably more normal for him.  I was just spoiled with 12 hour nights and 3 hour naps recently!  I wanted it to continue!

And yes, we've been doing a lot of cuddle time...in front of Sesame Street I'm afraid, but hey, it keeps him calm.

I LOL too...only b/c my DD is getting 3 teeth right now..and talk about not sleeping. Try only about 6 hrs at night and then her naps are only when i'm holding her. Which is a pain...I cant get anything done nor sleep myself!

I've tried everything...nothing is quite good enough to relieve her pain.
