Probably silly question re GD

The post below about what foods you can't stand to eat got me thinking about this. . .

In a perfect world, I would like to eat a balanced diet, *but* I'm doing good right now to just keep anything down!  *Nothing* sounds good at all, and the only things I can get myself to agree to come meal time are carb based - bread sticks, a little pasta, crackers, etc.

I know I need vitamins and a good diet for a variety of reasons, but - can I *cause* GD by eating this way?  From what I've read it's just the result of hormones, and either you get it or you don't . . .

Re: Probably silly question re GD

  • I highly doubt you can cause GD by eatting too many carbs...

  • Nope, nothing you eat will 'cause' GD.  Obviously gaining a ton of weight can increase your risk, but even then it's not cut and dried.

I had GD with one pregnancy and not the other....go figure.

  • I just wanted to say "Amen, sister!"  I am lucky to get anything down and I feel like I'm trying the very best I can.  I am taking my vitamins like crazy, but food and I just aren't friends right now!
  • Sorry to butt in--- but nutritionally is it a problem if I have severe food aversions to all meats right now, and I dont think I'm getting enough protein? I dont even want beans or eggs, so what other options do I have for protein....? Sad

  • According to my doc, the propensity to develop GD is largely a function of the placenta and beyond your control.  That said, eating nothing but sugar is good for no one - and that seems to be my primary problem!! Oh well.

Aliki, what about skim milk, cheese, ice cream, etc? Or soup with tofu?  Feel better!
