If so, what did you think of this route and were they crazy expensive? The more I read about Clomid and women over 35, the more disenchanted I become with it.

I am going to be moving into injectables soon. I am waiting for AF to start. Depending on what your insurance covers is how much you will pay. I have heard some say it was over $500 where I only paid $70.
i did IVF and paid $250 for 4 packages of follistim, 8 packages of Menopur, a package of Lupron, 2 packages of Crinone, 1 progestererone in oil, 1 dose of Doxycycline and 1 dose of the oher drug you take after retrieval (can't remember name). Plus all the needles and syringes. We have a PPO. About 3 yrs ago we had an HMO and it sucked - barely covered anything for infertility which is why we upgraded.
If your insurance will cover it...go for it. But I will tell you that you may want to try Clomid for at least 1 cycle. With injectables if you are a good responder they may end up canceling your cycle to avoid multiples. I think I remember one girl on another board got pg with 5 or 6 babies form injectables and ended up losing them all. My RE decided to have us go straight to IVF after clomid because I responded well on clomid and he was afraid of having to cancel if things went too weel.

I had decent coverage from my insurance. I had 2 300IU pens of Gonal-F, one ovidrel injection needle and 20 progesterone suppositories and only had to pay $67.

We do IVF, so we are OOP for meds. My last cycle ran me about $1500 - ugh. But if you did an injectable cycle you would start w/considerably less meds than an IVF cycle, so it would be (slightly) more manageable. GL with your decision!
Unfortunately, my IVF meds are crazy expensive. I am OOP, and do the micro flare protocol, which uses high doses of Follistim. Also, I'm a slow responder so I have to stim longer than average, about 13 or 14 days. Each cycle costs me close to $5,000 in meds, most of which is from Follistim.
