Success after IF

Success with severe endo....? (from a TTTCer)

I hope it's ok that I post here.....?? To be honest I'm a regular at TTTC and don't come on here..... but I hope to be here someday :)

I just got diagnosed with stage IV endo and am trying to figure everything out still and feeling a little hopeless and lost.....  I was hoping that some ladies with severe endo could share how they ended up getting pg....? My RE wants to move to clomid and IUI next. Did that work for anyone...?

I do ovulate on my own, but am dealing with very borderline MFI and now endo.

Thank you ladies....I really appreciate it. =)

Re: Success with severe endo....? (from a TTTCer)

  • I have stage IV endo and we were dealing w/ low morph (1%).  We did 3 IUI's and none were successful.  With both our issues or chances of IUI success were slim to none.  Of course, we didn't find that out until after we did 3 and went for a second opinion.

We succeeded on our 3rd IVF attempt w/ a micro flare lupron and follistim.  Don't let the # of IVF's I had dampen your hope, we had problems w/ our first two b/c of nurses error and a bizarro protocol on the second.  I almost don't even want to count them but I do b/c I did do the procedures.

Anyway, if you are paying OOP for the IUI's, I would definitely think about limiting the amt you do and save for IVF.  I don't know your MFI issue but get a second opinon to be sure you have a decent chance w/ both your issues.

Good luck and I can't wait to see you here permanantly.  :)

  • I have stage IV endo and had to have part of my right ovary taken out and I don't have a working left tube.  We miraculously got pregnant on a break cycle.  I did try Clomid the month before and I think that had something to do with it, I didn't think I had a problem ovulating until my levels with Clomid came back pretty low.  The dr. had put me on it because it was my second to last cycle before IVF and it was an extra boost in case I was having ovulation problems.  They never took my P4 levels at the RE, they weren't very thourough.  I have found going through this ordeal with endo that you have to be your own advocate.

Good luck!!!  Hope to see you here soon.

If you want to know more about my ordeal with endo and conceiving Ella, my blog is in my siggy.

ETA: because of all of the scar tissue in my tubes doc recommended no IUI's and straight to IVF after 6 months of trying.  I was also on lupron therapy after my first lap, and I also think that played a part in me getting pregnant by keeping my endo at bay.

  • I have stage 3 endo. I had a laparatomy to remove a massive fibroid and endo from my ovary. I got pg the first cycle we ttc after the surgery. The successful cycle was with lupron, follistim and ovidrel and b2b IUIs.
  • Thank you ladies :)  You give me hope!
