Bennett is ready for a bigger seat, so I got one in the clearance section at Target. It was a nice one....and it was half price! (This was a few weeks ago) There were 2 or 3 others of the same one, and some others. I think they were just clearing out space for a new line.
Well, I opened it yesterday to install it and at first I thought it really smelled like Febreeze. I took it all the way out and immediately could tell it had been used. There was spit up on it, cat hair, and crumbs. The infant headrest and body support was taken off and at the bottom of the box. There was not a single piece of paper or any kind of directions in there.
Needless to say, I was pissed!
I took it back today, knowing they wouldn't have any of those clearance seats, but thinking they'd offer me the one that would be equal to this one from the newer line (or at least some kind of special deal since it was their screw up). Nope. Nothing.
I'm not good at being insistant or demanding, but I was trying to let them know that I was not happy and that I was thinking I should get something for their mistake.
So, in the end, their solution was for me to buy a seat not near as nice AND to pay $10 more for it than the one I just brought back. I said "no thanks" and got my money back.
Nice customer service Target. (as usual)
I think my husband might call and ask for a manager tomorrow, but I'd say he's even worse at being demanding. Looks like we'll probably be taking our business to BRU.
Re: Bought a used carseat from Target :(
Wow that sucks. I would write an email to corporate. That way you don't have to be demanding in person.
that sucks.
that being said, here's what i would focus on in my complaint (i'm an attorney, i'll argue with anyone
- safety. accepting as a return and reselling a USED carseat is beyond unsafe. unthinkable. in fact, with a carseat that is in as terrible condition as this one, it is a very logical conclusion that this car seat was, in fact, returned because it was in an accident. they have a duty as a retailer to ensure that the items they accept as returns and in turn resell are in the original condition. this duty is of the utmost importance when you're talking about car seats. they should consider themselves lucky that you were observant enough to realize that the item they sold you was defective due to their own mistake.
be sure to tell corporate. and every manager at that store. and that you will no longer be shopping at that target and in fact will drive 10 miles to the target the next town over because you can't trust that their products are safae for your child.
they screwed up. you deserve a new carseat. good luck!
That really suck! Like you said, way to go Target
I love your new siggy pic of Bennett! He is so so adorable!
