I know not everyone is going to agree with our decision, but after we got the b/w back for our sequential screening today - our risk for DS went from 1:120 to 1:19, so we've decided to do an amnio. I'm a need to know kind of person and I want to be mentally and physically prepared for whatever may be coming our way. That's main reason we've decided to do the amnio. I know that all the info we have so far are just indicators and there are a lot of false positives, and wrong info, especially with twins, but I would really love to hear from anyone who's gone through this, what their experience was.
TIA
Re: could use a little reassurance re: test results
Our quad screen results for our twins came back somewhere around 1:60, if I remember correctly. It was a hard, hard decision, but after talking to the MFM who would actually perform the amnio (should we decide to do it), we went ahead with the amnio.
It was a little painful, and I was super tense. In the end, though, I'm so glad we did it. The amnio showed that it was, in fact, a false positive (*so* common with twins). Feel free to email me with any questions - littlebluebirdsfly@gmail.com
(Hope you don't mind me posting this. We had a bad outcome, but it had nothing to do with the amnio or test results!)
Hey sweetie,
Here's a great big giant hug for you!!! I just sent you an email on my thoughts.
Not sure if you visit the Preganant over 35 board (I hang out there also) but you may want to post there as well. I know many of the women there have expierenced what you are and may be able to provide some extra reassurance.
Thinking of you!
Kristina
We opted to do a cvs on our twins after we got a similar result on our NT for Downs. DH and I put alot of thought and consideration into making the decision but we are both the type that we need to know what we are dealing with. I would have been a mess this pregnancy if I didn't know the answer. We kept it to ourselves because we knew people had strong opinions about it and we wanted to make the decision based on how we felt and the medical information we were provided.
Our results came back that both babies were fine.
