My 2.5 year old has been tinkle trained since shortly after his 2nd birthday but really didn't get the hang of pooping in the potty until I was home with him after the school year got out in early June. It took him about 2 weeks and we got the poopy part down.
Yes, we have gone through some changes recently....sold our house in Atlanta on 6/12, moved to Greenville that day. Poopy potty trained for the next two weeks and got that mastered while we lived in the apartment temporarily. We closed on the new house on 6/30 and took our time moving in. Have been in the house for over a month with no accidents or set backs. He only wears diapers for nap and night.
He has been in underwear for MONTHS, hasn't had an accident ALL summer (yes with all the changes going on....no accidents!) until Friday when he tinkled in his car seat and then again today.
What do you think is going on? Regression due to the changes even though we've been in a routine for over a month now? We have been talking about preschool which starts tomorrow....3 half days a week....but he is excited and seems to be looking forward to that....I think he misses the structure and friends that daycare provided for him while I worked last year. Mommy is an emotional mess right now since we are TTC #2, not on my prozac because of that and have PCOS and male factor issues as well. He may sense me being upset (which is usually rare) and reacting to that.
Just need an outsiders opinion. The tinkling is intentional....he told us both times afterward "I tinkled in my carseat". It is not done because I couldn't get him to a potty on time....he did not tell me he had to go--he typically does--and we had just gone an hour before so I know his bladder wasn't about to burst!
Re: Potty training regression....help!
This too shall pass.
Hang in there. Lots of changes going on. Just treat it matter of factly. He'll get back to normal. Give him extra love and cuddles to reassure him about everything in general. I don't think this will last long at all.
