AW; Sheri is signing!

Sheridan has started signing 'milk'! I thought I noticed her doing it yesterday, but didn't say anything, figuring it was just me hoping she was doing it. This a.m., DH comes into the living room and tells me Sheri is doing "something weird with her hand." I asked him what she was doing and he mimicked her; it was the sign for milk!! I had him go back and hand her a bottle. I'm so excited- looks like the baby signing time vids are paying off. Just had to AW for a sec.

Also, if you noticed I'm slightly MIA lately, it;s because I've been feuling my FB Pet Society addiction! I need to stop playing so often!!

Re: AW; Sheri is signing!

  • lol at FB. ?(because I understand....)

What are the "baby signing time vids"?

I keep reading about LO's in DC learning to sign. ?K is taken care of by a "friend" (who mostly speaks Spanish....so he'll learn Spanish and English), but, in the meantime/before?"speaking" I'd love for him to "sign". ?However, he obviously wont learn it there....as they don't "sign" there.

I'm very interested and curious.......is this something we can do at home? ?Is it something I can learn how to teach DS? ?Is it "American Sign Language"? ?I took a semester of ASL in college (a hundred years ago)....but all I really remember is the alphabet and a few words.?

  • I am interested too, i think it would be awesome for ike to sign a couple things (more, hungry, thirsty type stuff).  I have a book, but i am not a read and learn type of person, i need to see it and do it before i can understand it enough to teach it.

Totally understand the fb thing,my farm rocks! lol

    YAY Sheri!!!  That is awesome!

  • Here is the link to their site: www.BabySigningTime.com

It is ASL. They are videos that teach your baby sign language through songs, clips of other kids signing the words and animations. I think it's a fun way for us to start communicating (since she's still speaking 'Sheridish' riight now and not many real words beside 'mamamama', dadada, ba, etc.

I would suggest looking for them on Ebay as well; you can find them there cheaper than their website.

  • Congrats!  It's so rewarding when they sign back :)

We didn't do any of the dvds, I just went online to a couple of sites that have short videos of the words that you want to sign and learned that way.  I love these two:
