Baking question.  I am trying to dye cake mix, but do not have regular food coloring.  Can I use icing coloring(gel)?  It is Americolor and Wilton brands.

I am not lib but I have done this with great success.  I actually don't use food coloring for cakes anymore.

Use more than you think you need or the color will be pale after the cake has baked.

I never have a need for food coloring, so I have not bought any in a LONG time.  I will try it. Thanks Crown.

Not lib, but I use gels and have no problems at all.

Depends on the color. I wouldn't do this with the red or black food dye because it is very bitter. The rest of the colors should be fine.
