Those who sent letters out to local OB's

I think there were a couple who did this .... we are always open to looking into private adoption situations. In fact, until the agency gets a spot for us they have us down as independent (the couple ahead of us has placement but are waiting to go to court).

Besides the point lol --- I was wondering what all you put in your letter you sent out. I was thinking of just writing that we are a local couple looking to adopt and if someone happens to come into their office thinking of pursuing this option - we can be contacted through our personal website or our phone number ????  

Is that what most people do? Do we just address the letter to the OB's office? We live in pretty small towns so that's what I figured lol.

I think I woud pose this question to your OB/GYN and see what s/he has to say.  I have found my OB/GYN as well as my Endo very supportive of our desire to adopt.

I actually talked to my personal OBGYN and she said we could bring a profile up to them to show ... but that got me to thinking about other OB's haha.

 On another adoption board a woman said she sent out 112 letters to OB's in her state and in like 4 days she was contacted by one of the OB's about a baby born situation --- turns out they ended up adopting that baby! It worked well for them.

I think with the small communities we live in it would be a good idea ... I just think I need help on wording haha!

Sorry, that's what I meant - I think your OB would help you with the wording.  I think I would go with a draft - introduce yourself, talk about your marriage, your child, your career(s), hobbies, extended family, etc.  Don't forget to mention your philosophies on parenting and hopes/dreams for your child. 

I think though - unsolicited advice - that if you live in a small town, be careful adopting from someone in that same community.  it could "get weird".

LOL ah I get it now haha! Well, our towns are smaller but I was going to hit the OB's from a 50 mile radius ... our agency said the same thing though --- if they have any preggos come in that live in the same town as the agency they don't show your profile to them due to you might run into them later on lol.
