party theme for second b-day...

DD will be 2 in November and I really want to have a great party.  Unfortunately, I was miscarrying during her 1st b-day and her party was put on the back burner.  I feel as if I "owe" her.  (Yes, I know my 1 yr old has no clue what she missed out on  LOL) 

 Any fun, original themes that do not involve TV/movie characters?  TIA

Does she have a favorite cartoon?

I'm thinking of taking DD to the party store to "browse" and see what she gets excited over.  Her bday is in late November, so I'm probably going to wait until end of October to do that since I have no clue what she will like then.

we did a penguin party because Rylee has a stuffed penguin that she LOVES!! All we did was use blues and purple to match her penuin. Maybe you could do a party kinda like her fav. toy or something

We did pink/purple cupcake birthday - it was lots of fun and very pretty!  They even have the same one for a 2nd birthday now :-)

We're doing a butterfly theme, complete with butterfly wings for DD to wear, which I'm really excited about   I also love the idea of a tea party but we'll prob wait until she's a little older for that.  Last year we did a pink & green polka-dot theme.  It was simple and looked nice -the cake was pink with green dots, the plates were dotted, etc.  You could consider going with a favorite animal or toy to base your theme off of too....  good luck!
