Success after IF

reflux babies- zantac

At DD's 2 month appt we discussed how DD may have reflux/ silent  reflux due to the fact that she apears to frequently spit up and swallow it back down and she also makes these wheezy noises sometimes.

I hate it when Dr's just prescribe meds because its easy.  But I am gonna give it a try to see if I notice a difference.  She wrote DD a prescription for zantac 2x  a day.  Any1 have success with zantac?  Any1 have issues?

thanks!

  • No issues here, just MAJOR success! Make sure your pharmacy flavors it for her. It is NASTY without something in it. We discovered that grape masked it the best! Good luck! (PS I know Target Pharm. Flavors for free!)

  • DD has silent reflux too and she went on zantac after her 2 mo. apt. No issues at all and it's stopped almost all her symptoms. She had hiccups 2-3 x's a day and now hardly ever has them. She's stopped screaming after nursing and her burps aren't so wet now. I've been pleased!
After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

  • One of mine has silent reflux also. Zantac, unfortunately was not strong enough for him and we had to move up to Prevacid. That worked a miracle for us!

Hopefully Zantac will be all you need.

  • Zantac worked for us.  FYI it is VERY weight sensitive, so if your LO gains weight, the dosage will most likely need to be adjusted.  Our pedi didn't tell us that and I was very disappointed when suddenly the meds stopped working and he had all of the discomfort back.  We were able to stop the Zantac completely at around 6 months.  GL!

  • the zantac worked well for us. we were told, however, that it doesn't reduce the spitting up, just the pain from reflux, which we found to be true. we were able to discontinue use (and saw a lot less spit up) when DS started sitting up on his own (first it gets way worse, then all of a sudden stops!)
  • Hey Tracy!! Sorry to hear that cute lil one is still having trouble. Hope the Zantac works for her. Hope all else is well with you!!
