Pregnant after a Loss

I just don't understand my bp!

I'm still waiting on the results from my blood work which were supposed to be in today.  I didn't hear anything from the doctors office so I called this afternoon and they closed over 1 1/2 hrs early!

Luckily my neighbor is a nurse and I had her check my bp just for piece of mind.  It was 110/93.  So strange.  I go from 110/56 one week to over 140/80 (they wouldn't tell me the readings that were over 140/80 but there were a bunch that were over it) and then two days later it is 110/93.  It's all over the place!

Anyone have experience with this?  I thought if it was high it would just stay high.

  • Your bp will often become labile like that before it goes up and stays up. Sounds like you should monitor it at home and write down the readings. That way you can start to see the trends. Just remember to try to take it around the same times each day.

  • Yep, mine was kind of fluctuating and even after they put me on meds, I wondered if I really needed it since not all of my readings were high.  Definitely keep a close eye on it.  The two signs I had that things were getting worse was a two day headache (not a bad one, just constant) and the joint in my hands were becoming painful due to swelling.  It got as high at 198/104 during the last few days in the hospital, even though I was just laying down for days and they were giving me extra stuff to control it.  So it can escalate quickly!
