When did you ask the godparents??

So, when do you ask the godparents to be godparents?? After the baby is born or before?  We already know who it will be...just dont know when to ask!

My best friend asked my husband and I to be godparents to her second child when she was about 8 months pregnant.  She wanted to ask us when she was about 6 months, but that's right around when we miscarried, so she waited.

We asked a couple weeks before the christening. DH's brother and my cousin....they were also the BM and MOH at our wedding, so no real surprises for anyone.
