Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Modular tumor and m/c

Myy sister had a d&c this morning after finding out the baby had no heartbeat on Wednesday at her 11 week appt.

I went with her and her DH this morning, when the OB came to talk to us about what happened, she said there was much more tissue than there should be and she was going to test it, she thought it might be a modular tumor. Her Ob also said that if that is the case, she would want her to wait to TTC for 6 months so that her pregnancy hormones would return to 0. My sister had been trying for a 1 year already and was on Progesterone and Clomid to conceive this time, and was hoping she could get going on TTC as soon as possible.

My sister is recovering and I am here with her and she is wondering about modular tumors and infertility, could this have been the reason she was having trouble TTC? Or was this the cause for the m/c? Or could this somehow be related to her blood clotting disorder (she has FActor II)?

Re: Modular tumor and m/c

  • Was it a molar pregnancy?

  • I was told that the molar pregnancy is rare and usually isn't the cause for infertility.  Sorry your sister and everyone effected is going through this.

PS Even if it is molar, she can go on to have healthy babies. It is really rare that it happens twice.
