DH and I recently went through an ectopic pregnancy. I was just curious if anyone has had success getting pregnant after having an ectopic? If so, how did you get over your fears of it happening again? Thanks to anyone who can help!
Oh I am so very sorry for your loss. I had an ectopic pregnancy as well. We pursued IVF in the hopes of it not happening again. AND guess what?!! I suffered through another "suspected ectopic". My desire to have a child was so strong that I decided to do IVF again and the result is in my siggy. With the first ectopic I was rushed to surgery and lost my tube.
There are a number of girls on here who have had ectopics and went on to have successful pregnancies with and without medical intervention.
I did! My first IUI ended in ectopic. Luckily, it was caught early and I didn't lose a tube but I did have to have the MTX shot. I was so scared to try again- I had moments of not wanting to even try because I was so scared, but I want a baby more than I was afraid so we gave it a shot. After taking a few months off, I got pregnant on my 2nd IUI and I'm almost 28 weeks pregnant. I also have a friend who lost a tube to an ectopic and went on to have a healthy baby.
I had an ectopic that was caught early and treated with MTX. However, we decided to do IVF to minimize the chance of it happening again. We were successful our first cycle x 2! While ectopics can happen with IVF, I wasn't terribly worried since it's a much lower risk than normal. I also felt better knowing that I was going to be monitored closely and if it was another ectopic, it would be caught early again.
Another success story--I have a friend IRF that had an ectopic and had to have surgery. She was going to do IVF, but got pregnant the cycle right before they were going to start. There is definitely hope for you! Good luck!!!

Me!! 3 of them...and the fear never goes away, unfortunately.
The 1st i had mexth shot, the 2nd i had removed laproscopically, and the 3rd i had a laparotomy and also lost a tube and ovary. And, now...i'm prego again with only 1 tube! So, yes, they suck, but there is always hope!!
The "good" news is after ectopics you are sorta high risk and get betas and early u/s to help ease the mind
