I am looking at getting a cute tutu with a birthday shirt for DD to wear in her pictures. It wont be for her party though, we have something else for that. I dont really want to spend too much. How much is it to make one yourself??
I make dd tutus by sewing a 1/2 wide piece of a elastic ends together... I make it about 2 inches smaller than my dd's waist. then I cute tuile about 2-3 inches wide, make the length twice what you want the tutu length ... then you just knot it around the elastic. more tuile , the thicker it will be. check youtube for tutorials. that's where I find a lot of sewing projects.
how much does it usually cost you for the materials??
I literally made 4 tutus and got material for 3 other outfits for the kids for what I paid for dd's first boutique tutu... I felt so used! lol. That boutique charged an arm and a leg for something that really cost under $10 to make. Look for coupons if you have JoAnn's .... they always have coupons for a % off ... and many times the tuile is only $2/yd. you probably want a handful of yards. just depends on how full and how long you want it.
