TTC After a Loss

New doctor...

I just moved to Washington state and have a new doctor. I had an OBGYN back in California but since I decided to take DHs insurance and drop mine, I had to choose a new PCP. My PCP is a Nurse Practitioner. Should I make and appt. with this NP so she gets to know me or should I just wait until I need to see her?

Also, should I request to have my chart transferred?

Re: New doctor...

  • Welcome to Washington! I'm just south of Olympia (in the boonies).  I would get your chart transferred and make an appointment to talk with her about all you've been through and what you're trying now. When you really need to see her she might be short on time so going through all the inital info before hand would help get through the "needing" appointment better.

  • I would definately have your chart transferred, and yes I would also make a get to know you appt with your NP.  Just so he/ she knows what they are in for (history etc.)
  • I would say yes to both.  If you don't want to have your chart transferred,  you may just ask for a copy for your personal records.  They may charge you for that....but I would definitely want someone to have my medical records.

    We are in Sequim.

  • So I just called the Doctors office and they said that I can come in and fill out paperwork to get my charts transfered. Once they receive them, they will be reviewed and then they make an appt. for me to come in for an hour to meet me.

It is so pretty there and being in the rain shadow you get less wet stuff!  I love the lavender fields when we drive by them every summer.  Good luck meeting with your NP.  I hope it all goes well for you.

  • I think it was totally worth it to set up an intro meeting with our dr. when we moved, just to give her a sense of what had gone on and where we were - emotionally as well as physically. I also warned her that while last time I was a dream patient who didn't want to bother my dr. with silly questions. This time...well, I think I'm going to be a pain in the butt, thanks to fears and nerves I didn't have before. Best that she be prepared!
