I'm the MOH in my sister's wedding on New Year's Eve. I'll be 22 weeks
at that point. They just ordered dresses last week. Do you think I
should try to change my dress...they have the same style available in
maternity? We haven't told anyone yet, and we aren't planning to for a
few more weeks. I have an aunt that works in the Bridal Store that has
our dresses, so keeping it a secret would be difficult. How big will I
be by then? Any advice? Thanks
Re: Dilema-Sister's Wedding
While everyone is different, I had a dress fitting for my bridesmaids dress at 22 weeks. They thought they would be able to just get by with the regular dress in a larger size, not so much. If it's empire waisted (and I mean truly empire waisted) you should be fine, but if not, I'd probably opt for the maternity dress version.
(I only say truly empire wasted because I was told my bridesmaids dress is empire waisted, well its form fitting but has a high waist)
I am the MOH in a wedding in October- I will be 24 weeks. I ordered a different dress than the other BMs because we all agreed that there was no way the style would fit me.
It is SO hard to find a dress now not knowing how you will look then. I would say if you can get it in maternity- do it. It's probably cut bigger than the regular dresses and you can always have it altered.
I had to order my dress yesterday and I just went up a size and will have it altered to fit.

This is it! We're doing black. It's sort of wrapped/gathered through the middle (all one piece) and then a flowing shirt. They ordered cropped sweaters for us this week so wear over it at the reception.
I'd get the maternity version.
Wow, that is going to be a tough one. Just looking at the average size of women on here in 22 week photos, I would definitely order up and order extra fabric to give the seamstress something to work with when doing the alterations. It's too bad that it is not an empire waist so that you would not need alterations. Keep in mind that your chest will probably be larger by then too.
ETA: I totally missed the part about the maternity version. I would DEFINITELY go with the maternity version!
If you click on "Maternity" on the side navigation of Jasmine's website https://www.jasminebridal.com/J_2_4.aspx , you'll see that the dress you need for the wedding is available in a matching maternity style. Click on B8082 on the link above and you'll see a sketch on the right hand side showing what the dress would look like.
I'm in a wedding this weekend at 17 weeks, with an "empire waist" dress and I'm still pushing it as far as fitting into it properly. I'd go for the maternity one!
I will be 24 weeks at a wedding I am in this October. Just an FYI on going 1 size up, this did not work for me. I went in last week and 1 size up was snug. I had to go 3 sizes up to be sure (from size 2 to size 8). More fabric is always better than less in this situation. The size 2 fit perfect before I got pregnant and at 14 weeks the 4 was pretty tight and It was an empire waist so I thought I would be fine. It was silk/non stretchy so that didn't help either. Not sure if this info is even helpful...
I would say go with the maternity dress, I wish they had that in my style.

I am in a friend's wedding and will be 32 weeks. I was like you early in my pregnancy when we had to order them. Not to be negative, but I have A LOT of friends who have had miscarriages so I was nervous about ordering this huge dress in case things didn't work out. The bridal shop told me just to order a yard of the dress fabrice after I knew I was pregnant. Then a seamstress can add a gusteavu (SP?) Basically add side panels to the dress.
But for my other friend's wedding I am in at 23 weeks, I just ordered my dress 3 sizes bigger and it could be taken in as needed.
