Pregnant after a Loss

**Cara**

Hey Cara-

I was at the gym today on the elliptical and I took note of how quickly my heartrate went up and down and how it might be hard to know if I'm going too fast.  Did you ever get a heartrate monitor thingy?  I remember you posting that your dr said not to go about 140, so I was curious how you're handling it.  I typically work out 5-6 times a week so I want to be careful.

Re: **Cara**

  • Hi there!  I didn't order it yet for fear of jinxing myself actually...For right now I'm just walking and biking and those are easier to keep my heart rate below 140.  Believe me, before my BFP I was on the eliptical between 45 minuts to an hour each day. It's hard to not want to do it!  However, the heart rate on the eliptical was never below 146 when it was at it's lowest while I was on it... So for right now I'm just sticking to the walking and biking just to be on the safe side. I might talk to the dr again after my u/s on the 28th???  That's when I'll be willing to spend the $ on the heart monitor. Most of them are kinda expensive....  What about you? Where's your heart rate when you do eliptical?  Do you have a monitor?

  • My u/s is on the 28th too!!  Anyway, no I don't have a monitor but I noticed that when I was going at a regular pace on the elliptical, it was about 110 but when I picked it up a notch, it quickly went from 130-160.  I'm normally a soccer player (not now, of course) and play a few times a week so I miss it.  I guess from now on I will take it slow on the elliptical (usually I read a magazine) and I'll keep up with my walking, too.  I stopped lifting, too, which is hard.  I might resume when I get to the second trimester (light freeweights).
