Success after IF

OB Visit

I had a routine OB visit today.  All was well, but interestingly, he wants me to start on 1000 IU of Vitamin D daily.  He said there is research that shows Vitamin D helps with brain development in the 3rd trimester and can help prevent autism.

Anyone else hear about this?  I'm too lazy to google today...and I figure a bit of extra Vitamin D can't hurt (especially since its entirely too damned hot to go outside and get in the sun).

Also, when did you all start OB visits every two weeks?  I won't go back for four more weeks this time...and I'm curious as to when the more frequent visits start.

Re: OB Visit

  • I've never heard such a thing, but like you said it can't hurt!

And the OB appointments, I go at 26w, 30w, 34w, 36w, 37w, 38w, 39w, 40w.  So 2 weeks in between starting at 34w, but only that one time then every week until I deliver.

  • I haven't heard that specific reasoning before but I have heard lots about the importance of vitamin d supplements and how we don't get enough...

and I actually don't really remember when I started going every 2 weeks?  Hmmmm....

  • I had not heard of that either. I have already begun every two week apts, but I have been in the high risk cat. for a number of reasons.  I think with my Dr. and "normal" pregnancies, it is every 4 weeks until 30, then every 2 until 36, then every week. At 40, it is every other day until labor or induction!
  • Very interesting. Can't hurt, right?!  My 2 week visits start at 28 weeks.  So I only have one more monthly visit.  Holy smokes!
