I tried replying to your post twice, and the bump ate them both times, grrr.
Sorry this step is difficult for you. It was for me also. At my first GYN appt. the doc ordered CD3 blood work to check FSH and estrogen levels. FSH is one of the indicators for ovarian reserve. You will also schedule CD21 blood work (or 7 days past O). This will check your progesterone levels. Progesterone indicates whether or not you're ovulating. You will set up an HSG, which is an x-ray where the doctor injects dye into your uterus. The HSG will let you know if there or any malformations or blockages in your uterus or tubes. Also, you will set up a semen analysis for you husband. My husband was not thrilled with this step, but we were able to collect at home and drive it in as long as we got there within the hour. Ask if you are able to do that if it makes your DH more comfortable.
For me, I felt better after the appt because we had a plan. Good luck and hopefully this post goes through!!
