TTC After a Loss

NTTCALR: Do you worry about money? poll

I do and I am stressed out right now.

I don't feel like we have enough saved and I want to save more although we have a few more things we want to pay off

I worry about my job (100% commission and in March my commission rate drops from 29% to 10%)

I worry about how we would afford a baby, even though I know we could as we spend money on whatever whenever right now

Anyway, today's just one of those days.

  • I highly recommend reading "Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey or join a Financial Peace University at a church. This book -- this man -- seriously turned our financial situation on its ear and changed our finances forever.

  • Oh, I"m all about Dave and I know really that we have nothing to worry about, there are just times when I worry about it Smile
  • I used to worry all the time about money... DH & I got in a BIG fight about 8 months ago or so and since then he took control of the finances. Let me tell you, what a relief! He doesn't stress like I do. I recently started saving some extra cash so we have a little baby nest egg. I know we'd manage a baby just fine without saving but saving makes me feel more secure.
In memory of precious Julia, sweet baby James, and now Timmy who fought so hard.

  • We were soooo much closer to being where we wanted to be financially 2 years ago. Dh was laid off during cut-backs after being w/ the company for 7 years. Our savings is now completely gonen My dh is a hardworker, neither of us come from a wealthy family, so I know we'll always be striving for more. I have times that I freak out that we're not where we wanted to be.....but then I remember to be happy with what we have and not worry about what we want.

Agreed! That's why we are debt free except for the house and have a 6 month emergency fund.  I still worry though - it's just my nature. it's completely liberating.  If you haven't read the book or gone to an event, do it soon!

  • DH and I haven't had to worry too much about money ... but seeing as I got laid off yesterday... i am worried that we will spend our savings.....

  • I always thought we did well but after seeing our Financial Advisor I realize it's time to cut back and stop spending money on things that really are not necessary (gel nails came off yesterday, and damn it hurts now!) and start saving now so when we do have children we will have money put away for school, emergencies, etc.

  • Honestly... I strive to be more healthy financial wise every chance I get but I am no where near having a  big surplus of savings.

I do know know that DH and I are better off financially than my parents ever were and they had 4 children to take care of.
